Raising the Height of a Tandem Axle Keystone Springdale Clearwater Trailer
Question:
I have a 2002 Keystone Springdale Clearwater Edition Tandem axle 28foot . It rides too low and the tanks and valves have already been damaged once. The axles currently ride on the springs. A concern with the over/under kit you have is that it will cause sway. Is this a true concern I should consider? Also, is this a job I can do on my own in my own driveway with the proper tools? Is re-aligning the axles a factor or is there a trick there? Do the kits come with instructions including torque specs for the install?

Using an over-under conversion kit such as # K71-384-00 or # K71-385-00 raises the height of a trailer which also raises its center of gravity. This makes the trailer more susceptible to sway but doesn't necessarily mean that sway will happen just from raising the trailer height. Its just a possibility.
This is a job someone could do at one. But the new spring seats should be tack-welded in place which does require the proper welding equipment.
You should not have to worry about realigning the axles because the springs are still hanging from the same hangers which will not change positions. Instructions and torque specs are included.
You would need to use 1 kit per axle. Kit # K71-384-00 is for 2-3/8 inch diameter round axles and kit # K71-385-00 is for 3 inch diameter round axles.
