Can the Prodigy RF Trailer Brake Controller be Used with a 2011 Lexus RX 450h Hybrid
Question:
I have a Lexus RX450h that Ill be using as a tow vehicle. I was told by Lexus that they could not wire a charge line into the 7-round plug because it could damage the hybrid system. Will this impact my ability to use this brake controller? Thank you in advance.

The Prodigy RF brake controller # TK94FR requires the 12 volt circuit be active in order for it to work. If your 2011 Lexus RX 450h hybrid model also has a regular vehicle battery and not just the large hybrid battery system then what you can do is run a wire to the 12 volt circuit from the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker # PK54540.
For wire you can use # 12-1-1. Change the number in the quantity box to the total length of wire you think you will need in feet. I recommend 25 feet. A length of wire will go from the positive battery terminal to the BAT post on the circuit breaker.
Then another length of wire will attach to the AUX post on the circuit breaker. From that point you will need to route the wire under the vehicle, avoiding areas that could pinch or burn the wire such as exhaust and suspension components. then attach the wire to the 12 volt circuit on the back of the 7-Way.
I would run this by the Lexus technicians and see what they have to say about it.
