Recommended Brake Controller and Custom Wiring for a 1997 26 Foot Ford E-350 Chassis Motor Home
Question:
I am looking to install trailer brake wiring and controller on My 1997 26ft E-350 Motor Home. I am an experienced ASE Master Tech and will be installing the harness and controller myself. I was inquiring to see if by chance you would recommend a kit or components to perform this operation. Thanks.

The brake controller I recommend is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because its one of the most popular and highest rated brake controllers we currently offer. It has a LCD display and it will be very user friendly.
If your 1997 E-350 motorhome has an existing 4-way connector, you will need the custom wiring adapter # 3035-P to install the brake controller and the 4-pole to 7-pole and 4-pole adapter # 37185 to complete your wiring. If there is a tow package present your E-350 will have the brake controller port open ended plug to the left of the emergency brake pedal. See the video on the Ford E-450 I included.
If you have an existing 7-way you will only need the custom wiring adapter # 3035-P.
Lastly, if you don't have any factory connectors, you will need the universal installation kit # ETBC7 because it includes everything you need to install an electric trailer brake controller and 7-way connector. In addition, you will need a 4-way flat connector # 18252 at the back of your motorhome to power the trailer signal lights. It will spice into the tail light wiring. The instruction link is attached.
I included several videos for you to view and some informative articles.
