Is the Adapter Kit for DTLBM and DTALBM Locking Ball Mounts Just for Aluminum Components

I have a 2-1/2 receiver on my pickup, and I was wondering if this will work as a generic 2-1/2 to 2 adapter or is there something about how this is made that makes it only useful for aluminum s?

The Adapter Kit for DTLBM and DTALBM Series Locking Ball mounts, # DTADP35, is designed specifically for trailer hitch ball mounts in the DTLBM and DTALBM series.
If you just need a reducer sleeve, I recommend the Curt Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch, # C45405.
