Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bumper Clearance for 2015 Acura MDX
Question:
Hey there. I have a question regarding a hitch. I have a 2015 Acura MDX that I want to get a hitch for. The hitch will not be for towing, but to use with a Thule Apex Swing bike Rack. I was looking at the Curt Class III Receiver Hitch I noticed you answer alot of questions for people on these hitches for bike racks. I just wanted your opinion to see which one of the available hitches would work better for that bike rack if any. In particular, I wanted to be sure the rack fit well it is a 2 inch receiver and it wouldnt be so close to the car as to mess up the bumper or anything. Thank you

The Curt hitch, # C13146, has 2-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost edge of the bumper and will have the most bumper clearance.
So if increasing the space between the bike rack and the bumper or rear of vehicle is important then you will want to go with the Curt hitch. Please note that Curt recommends using a stabilizing strap (including) for all non-trailer loads.

If you'll be using the hitch for towing, you might also need the following to complete your towing system:
Trailer wiring harness with 4 pole trailer connector, part # 118628
Ball mount, part # D-4
2 inch trailer ball, part # 63845
1-7/8 inch trailer ball, part # 19260
Locking hitch pin, part # e98882
