Trailer Hitch for a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon for Thule T2 Bike Carrier
Question:
Hello, I have a 2012 Subaru Outback and am looking to attach one of three 2 inch hitches, Drawtite 75673 or Curt 13390. I also already bought a Thule T2 bike rack. I read a previous post answering pin hole to bumper distances on a 2014 Outback for these hitches. So my question is do the 2012 and 2014 Outbacks have the same body style? I know I need 4 1/2 inches for the T2 to fold up. Thanks

On a 2012 Subaru Outback Wagon Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75673 measures 5-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the bumper on a 2012 Subaru Outback.
We have not installed the Curt hitch # 13390 on a 2012 model. But on a 2011 it measured 3-1/2 inches, on a 2014 it was 3 inches, on a 2015 it was 3-1/2 inches, and on a 2010 it was 4 inches. Based on all of this information it would seem the Curt hitch would be the best option. The only catch is that Curt says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or car go carrier) per their warranty requirements.
