The best way to tow a fifth wheel using a truck with the 5-1/2 foot bed would be to use a standard, non-sliding hitch and install a Reese Sidewinder in place of the OEM pin box on the fifth wheel or purchase a 5th wheel that has a Reese Revolution pin box (OEM version of Sidewinder.)
The model Sidewinder you need will depend on the manufacturer and model number of the OEM pin box on your 5th wheel. This information should be stamped on the pin box somewhere. I'll link you to an FAQ article that shows all the different Sidewinders available and which OEM pin boxes they'll replace.
You'll want to choose a fifth wheel hitch whose capacity exceeds the GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating) of the fifth wheel. I'd recommend a dual jaw hitch like the M5 Series 20K, part # RP30928. A single jaw hitch will hold the king pin tightly, resulting in a more comfortable ride. I'd also recommend the # RP50064-58 fifth wheel hitch installation kit, which bolts to the truck frame using existing holes.
If your truck isn't already equipped with a 7-way trailer connector in the truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157. I've linked you to some FAQ and install videos that I hope you'll find helpful.
