Replacement 5 Way Connector Needed for Yamaha Boat Trailer

Question:

My dog just chewed up my plug on my yamaha boat trailer. It currently has 4 metal prongs and one rubber so a total of 5 prongs with 7 wires going into the back of it. Its a flat connector. I need one that is at least 2 feet long and just want to make sure I get the right one since there are a lot to choose from. Thank you

Sounds like Fido needs a first class ticket to the dog house! LOL

For a 5-way replacement connector for your Yamaha boat trailer, Draw-Tite offers part # 20017 which includes the connector with 48 inch wiring lead and 4 quick splice wiring connectors.

The standard wiring on a 5-way flat connector are :
White wire - Ground
Green wire - Right turn/Brake
Yellow wire - Left turn/Brake
Brown wire - Taillights
Blue wire - Reverse light circuit

Since you mention that you have 7 wires going into the back of your current 5-way, if the plug is still attached, just damaged, I recommend cutting off the existing plug and wiring the replacement connector in the exact same way. Otherwise you can apply 12 volt power to each of the wires to determine their function and wire accordingly.
