Base Plates and Related Flat Towing Components for 2010 Ford Fusion Towed by Class C RV

Question:

I have a 2003 McKenzie Rogue Class C RV that I want to tow a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid with. I am looking at the ReadyBrute Elite tow bar with surge brake and a blue ox base plate. Is this a good towing combination? What wiring kit do I need to connect the RV brake/turn signal wiring to the Fusion?

Your 2010 Ford Fusion can be fitted with Blue Ox's base plate kit # BX2614 which features handy twist-lock draw bars - no pins to get lost. These base plates bolt on to your Fusion without welding and they include the mounting hardware.

When you order you ReadyBrute Elite tow bar you will want to be certain to order it with the Blue Ox clevis option to ensure easy connection to your Blue Ox base plates. Since this tow bar includes safety cables and surge brakes you need to add only the light/wiring solution of your choice.

If you want to avoid the hassle (and stress!) of cutting into your Fusion's wiring you can install a simple bulb and socket lighting kit like Roadmaster's # RM-155. This kit is completely independent of the car's own wiring.

Just for reference I linked you to an article that covers the essentials of flat towing.
