Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2006 Jeep Liberty

Question:

I have a 2006 Jeep liberty, I am trying to figure out once I put the trailer on, do I have some sort of wiring set up already run to my back bumper from the engine? I am pretty sure there is no plug that comes standard on liberty? Any help would be great! Cant find any info on standard wiring package for a 2006 Liberty, and if it includes anything for towing?

If you do not already have a trailer connector installed, your vehicle was most likely not factory pre-wired. That is not necessarily bad news, we offer a T-1 Connector, part # 118524 for your Jeep Liberty. The harness plugs in line to existing wiring behind the tail light assemblies and requires a connection to the positive battery terminal. This circuit protected powered converter will protect the vehicles sensitive wiring. I have included a link to the installation details for you.

If you are wanting to tow a trailer that has electric brakes, you will need a brake controller to actuate them. You will first need to choose a brake controller, I would recommend the Tekonsha P2, part # 90885. The P2 is very easy to use and set up, which helps make it our best selling brake controller.

To wire the controller, you would use one of our Brake Controller Install Kits. If you need a 6-way Trailer Connector, use part # ETBC6. For a 7-way connector, use part # ETBC7. The install kits include everything necessary for installing a brake controller.

We have an online guide that explains how to install a brake controller, I will provide a link below.
