Question:

I have now a Hankook radial H 704 tire and it says P 225/75R15 102S on the tire. I need to replace them and its a 10foot utility trailer and Ill be hauling a 860 pound motorcycle on it from Texas to South Dakota. What type of tire should I be looking for?

Expert Reply:

For a tire in the same size suitable for highway use for a trailer I would recommend the part # TTWTRTM2257515D as this is a radial tire. This is a load range D tire which means it's an 8 ply rating, has a maximum load capacity of 2,540 pounds at 65 psi. A radial tire flexes more than a bias tire, giving it better ground contact, traction, stability, and tread wear.

A radial tire will normally run cooler than a bias ply tire, especially when the tire is under a load. A tire that runs cooler will last longer.
