Number roller sets to support 6000 lb boat. Bob G

Question:

Bob G, When you say 4 sets to hold a 6000lb boat, are you suggesting aligning 2 sets per bunk side by side? Example, A set = 2 so its 2 sets on the left bunk and 2 sets on the right bunk Equals a total of 8 roller rails needed

Yes, you can use two sets of the Dutton-Lainson deluxe roller bunks # DL21741 side by side on one bunk or next to each other on separate bunks, as long as each pair of 5' sections is not supporting more than their 3,000 pound weight capacity.

You just need to make sure you spread the total weight of the boat over more than one pair of bunks and that you position the bunks close enough together so there is not too much pressure exerted in any one location when loading the boat and/or when sitting on the trailer in the towing position.

So in your example a 6000 lb boat can be carried on 2 sets, 4 total, or the roller bunks, as long as 5' is enough to support the boat when towing and loading without causing pressure points. If the boat is too long to use 2 sets of bunks then I would recommend purchasing 4 sets, 8 total, of roller bunks.
