Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2011 Volkswagen GTI For Jet Ski Trailer Towing
Question:
Hello, i am trying to find a Class II trailer hitch and the wiring to go with it. I like the Curts trailer and wanted to make sure that the Class II trailer works with a 2011 VW GTI. When i added my car type i only saw Class Is come up and wanted to be reassured that the class II curts i found will work. I am a little confused on the wiring for the car to trailer. not sure the exact terminology for it since i saw two different subjects of wires. I am putting a trailer hitch on for a 2inch ball for a Jetski.

The only Curt hitch available for your 2011 Volkswagen GTI is the part # C11000 which is a Class I hitch. Class II hitches are used on vehicles that have higher capacities such as larger sedans and vans.
The # C11000 can still be used to tow a jet ski trailer as it has a 200 lb tongue weight and 2,000 lb trailer weight capacity. As long as your jet ski trailer weighs less than that and the towing capacity listed in your vehicle owners manual you would be good to go.
The recommended ball mount is the part # C45016, for a 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256, for a 2 inch ball # 19258, and then for trailer wiring you would want the # C59236.
