Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for a 2014 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Short Bed
Question:
Im looking at installing a Curt 20K 5th Wheel Hitch/Slider: C16541 but I dont have the chassis/mounts under my bed to install the MOPAR under bed 5th Wheel Prep Kit: 82213665AB. Ideally, I wanted the 4 pucks instead of a gooseneck. Now it looks like I have to explore the gooseneck option: Curt Hitch C60614 and use the X5 5th Wheel Adapter: 16210. Will this setup work?

There is a gooseneck and hitch set up that might work for your 2014 Ram 2500 short bed. You could install B&W Turnover Ball hitch # BWGNRK1384-5W and use Companion 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3500-5W. This set up will only work if your Ram has rear coil spring suspension.
The Curt gooseneck hitch # C60614 is not classified as a Double Lock Flip and Store so I cannot recommend using it with the X5 adapter # C16210. The Double Lock hitches have 2 holes in the ball shank to secure the ball. The gooseneck hitch # C60614 only has the one hole.
The only other option is to use above the bed rails and a slider hitch. I have included a link to the install kits and sliders for you truck.
