Trailer Hitch, Wiring, Brake Controller and Accessories for a 2011 Nissan Xterra

Question:

I have a 2011 Nissan Xterra tow capacity 5000 lbs. It does not have a factory tow package, but it does have the plug at the drivers side rear leaf spring area. I will be pulling a 2013 Rockwood Popup Camper HW276. GVWR is 3800 / dry weight is 3127 / payload capacity 670 / hitch weight 270. I was researching your website and want to confirm these parts for the above: 1 Curtis Hitch part # 13514 2 Wiring harness for 7 way plug for no current tow package Part # 118266 3 Curt Brake Controller with the ADAPTER part # C24VV and C51515 4 Brake Controller Wiring from brake controller to 7-way plug part # ETBC7 Other questions: A Ball and receiver? I was told the camper measurement is 22inch from the ground to under the ball receiver area. I was told it uses a typical 2inch ball? B Theres a note about a circuit breaker 9506P for # 3 above. Do I need that if it comes with an adapter already? PS: any instructional videos are a super plus :

For your 2011 Nissan Xterra Curt hitch # 13514 and wiring harness # 118266 will work just fine. Brake controller and harness # C24VV and # C51515 are also going to work just fine. But instead of using # ETBC7 you would use # 5506. this is because you do not need all of the stuff included with the ETBC7.

You will still need to route the brake controller blue output wire to the back of the 7-Way, attach it to the back of the 7-Way in the 7 o'clock position. Remove the wire that is already there first though.

A receiver is the opening on the hitch so I think you mean a ball mount and ball. On the hitch it will measure approximately 18 inches from level ground to the top of the receiver opening. If the trailer coupler is 22 inches from level ground to the bottom of the coupler with the trailer level then you will need a ball mount with a rise of 4 inches, # C45070, to tow the trailer level.

For a 2 inch ball that fits this ball mount use # 63845.

The circuit breaker needed to install the brake controller is included with 5506.
