On your 2008 Jeep Liberty, If you are referring to the red wire on the brake controller, it attaches to the wire on the stoplight switch that carries a signal only when the brake pedal is pressed. You will need a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to find this wire.

If you are referring to the blue wire on the brake controller, you will connect the white wire from the duplex cable to the brake controller's blue wire. Prior to this, you should have connected the blue wire on the 7-Way to the white wire of the duplex cable, ran the duplex cable up to the engine compartment, separated the two wires on the duplex cable, and routed the white one through the firewall to the brake controller.
