Will a Bike Rack with 2-3/4 Inch Shank Length from Pin Hole to End Fit Inside Hitch Extender
Question:
Id like to utilize the shortest 5.75inch extension length. However, Im worried my rack will not be able to in far enough to line up the holes between the female end of the extender and my bike rack. From the end of my bike rack to the center point of the pin hole on it, is 2.75. Is there enough room in there for it to fit or will it be hitting on an inside welding lip before the holes line up? Additionally when using the shortest 5.75inch length what is the distance from the center of the pin hole for the shortest setting on the male end, to the lip where the female end begins? Thank you!

Expert Reply:
The distance from the second hitch pin hole back to where the extender narrows is less than 2-3/4 inches so your rack would not fit that second hole. You would need to use the first hole, closest to the face of the receiver. Distance between the two inner most pin holes on center is approximately 2 inches.
You might want to consider extender # HE06 as an alternative.
Please note that the use of a hitch extender will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent.
