Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2012 Volkswagen Touareg
Question:
Weight Distribution Hitch for 2014 TOUAREG TDI Towing a 2015 Airstream Flying Cloud Hello, I just read the answer about the question in the subject above. I noticed that in the hitch receiver specs for all suppliers curt, reese and hidden hitch it says do NOT use with weight distribution. Is there a receiver with which you can use a weight distribution system? Thanks for your time and expertise on the matter,

Usually when a Class III trailer hitch is not rated for use with weight distribution it is because the vehicle itself is not rated for weight distribution. Check the owners manual for your 2012 Volkswagen Touareg to determine if it can use weight distribution.
Even if the vehicle can use weight distribution you are still limited to the capabilities of the trailer hitch used. In this case none of the hitches for the 2012 Touareg can be used with weight distribution like you said.
For a trailer hitch the most popular option is # C13116. I have linked a video showing how it installs.
Since you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
And for trailer wiring you can use harness # C59496 to add a 4-Way.
