Hitch Adapter Availability for a Curt Hitch # C12038 to Allow 2 inch Bike Rack to be Carried
Question:
I am looking at this hitch for my 2003 Subaru Forester: C12038 My question is that I have a bike rack with a 2inch receiver opening. Do you offer adapters so that I can fit a larger receiver opening?

We offer adapters like the part # HTAD that will allow you to carry a bike rack designed for a 2 inch hitch with a hitch with a 1-1/4 inch opening, but you should note that when you use an adapter like this the capacity of the hitch will be cut in half. The # Curt Hitch part # C12038 that you referenced has a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs and has been confirmed to fit your vehicle. So as long as the weight of your bikes and rack are less than 175 lbs this adapter would work for you.
A good idea would be to also use the stabilizer strap # 18050 to provide additional support.
I attached a link to the install video for this hitch plus a help article on hitch adapters as well.
