How the Curt Trailer Hitch Installs on a 2006 Mini Cooper and is Any Trimming or Cutting Needed
Question:
Will you please tell me if this trailer hitch mounts on a 2006 Mini Cooper convertible with the hitch receiver portruding through an opening in the bumper? I believe it is a hidden install but am checking. Thank you

The CURT Trailer Hitch, # 11126, will fit all model Mini Coopers EXCEPT the S series. You will not have to cut or trim any visible part of the bumper. The hitch will fit, more or less, around the stock parts on your 2006 Mini Cooper, but you may need to trim a small portion of the opening at the back of the vehicle for the fascia to fit back on the vehicle correctly once the hitch is installed, see instructions link.
There are several specific steps that need to be taken to complete installation, so I would recommend reading the instructions closely before beginning the install. There is no drilling required for installation.
You will need a trailer wiring harness, # C59496. This kit includes everything you need to wire your Mini.
You will also need a properly sized hitch ball, # 19256, or # 19258, for a 1-7/8 inch trailer coupler or a 2 inch trailer coupler respectively.
