Hitch Wiring and Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Highlander

Question:

Im putting a trailer hitch in my 2008 Toyota Highlander. It does not have the tow package in it. I already have a brake controller. What would I need to hook up the proper wiring? I need to hook up the brake controller, as well as the round 7 pin connector on the trailer. Thank you!

If you don't have a hitch picked out yet the most popular one we carry with other 2008 Toyota Highlander owners is the Curt Hitch part # 13534. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118449.

From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.

If you needed a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
