Are Torque Specs for Hitch Installs Important to Follow
Question:
I was wondering if its possible to over tighten the bolts on the draw tight hitch #75560. I had a second hand torque wrench for the install, and it worked on only 2 of the bolts above the muffler. I fear I may have over tightened the bolts, though Im a 54inch 130 lb female. I tried to reverse the bolts and was barely able to budge them. Im only using the hitch for a bike rack at this point, but I may tow a small trailer in the future. Its mounted on a 2006 Subaru Outback. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I can only safely recommend you torque the install bolts of the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75560 to the figures that are listed in the install instructions, but it would be safer to have the bolts tighter than spec as opposed to not as tight. If there is anyway you can verify that you have the correct torque on the hardware by maybe finding a better torque wrench that would be your safest and best option.
I attached an install video for you to check out for more info.
