Brake controllers are not vehicle-specific so you can choose one that provides the features you want and that is compatible with your trailer's type of brakes. An excellent option is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This reliable and popular choice is highly-rated by our customers because it is easy to set up and operate. It also has the flexibility to work with both electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes.

Installation will require a brake controller installation kit # ETBC7. This kit includes a 7-way socket, wiring, connectors and everything needed to do a wired installation. I have linked a video and article covering installation.

You will need to have a working 4-pole flat trailer connector on your van in order to use the ETBC7. If you need one you can select a suitable harness using the link provided. Just select your model year, brand and then van in the drop-down menu box near the top of the page to see suitable 4-pole harnesses. For example, if your Ford van is a 2010 model year without any trailer connector you can use # C56020 from Curt. This harness is a simple plug-and-play option that requires no cutting or splicing of wires. I have linked a video for this item too.
