How Much Air Pressure Should Go In a 205/74-14 Load range D Trailer Tire

Question:

I just purchased 4 205/75r14 lrd tires for my camper. It weights about 4000lb and with all the extra stuff the wife requires for camping probably closer to 5000lb. The tire say maximum 65psi at 2050lbs. For my purpose what tire pressure should I be running to get maximum performance and tread life?

Trailer tires should always, always, always, be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire sidewall. For tire # AM10235 (which is a 205/75-14, load range D) fill it to 75 psi. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall compared to passenger vehicle tires. If under inflated that thicker sidewall will generate excessive heat and lead to failure.

Since you have 4 tires I assume it is a tandem axle trailer so the tires are more than enough for a trailer weighing 5,000 pounds when loaded and ready to tow.
