Using Hydraulic Trailer Brakes on Timbren Axle-Less Suspension 3500 Pound Axles

Question:

It seems most of the correspondence Ive read deal with electric brakes. Can the axle-less suspension systems be used with a hydraulic surge brake system such as DICO? If so, what hydraulic system would you recommend for a 3500lb axle-less suspension with 14inch tires? I would use 2 sets of 3500 lb axle-less systems total 4 tires to carry a load of approximately 4,400 lbs and would like to install brakes on only the rear pair of wheels Thank you for your assistance

What you would need is a Timbren Axle-less suspension system that just has spindles, # ASR3500S04. Then you could add the appropriate hydraulic brake assemblies, 4-bolt mounting pattern, and matching drums.

The hub and drum assemblies used will need to use inner bearing L68149 and outer bearing L44649.

I have included a link to the brake assemblies that you can use. For a hub and drum assembly that works with the EZ lube spindles on the Timbren system you can use # 84546UC3-EZ.

If you are going to put brakes on just one axle then usually they go on the front axle. On a hydraulic braking system, they will also be more responsive on the front axle compared to the back.
