Recommended Weight Distribution System For Popup Camper With Frame Mounted Propane Tank
Question:
I have a popup camper rated at 4000 lbs and I need a weight dist. hitch to match it. The tow vehicle is a 1/2 ton Silverado. Also,I have a problem, I need bolt on chain hoist units-not the ones that are removable. My LP tank bracket is in the way. Is it possible to switch out the removable type with a bolt on chain hoist? Thank You,

When you consider a weight distribution system for your popup camper the most important thing you will need to know is the tongue weight. Tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully loaded trailer added to the weight of any cargo placed behind the rear axle of your Silverado.
I will make a couple of recommendations based on the number you gave me. I recommend the Reese Weight Distribution System, part # RP66541. This system has a towing weight capacity of 10,000 lbs and a tongue capacity rating between 400 and 800 lbs. This includes the adjustable shank and all the necessary hardware needed.
The hitch ball is not included. For a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball you can use part # 19286.
Since you mentioned your frame mounted propane tank I recommend using part # RP58305. These will allow you to install the weight distribution system and not interfere with the propane tank.
I have attached links to a couple of helpful articles about weight distribution you can check out.
