For your 2001 Subaru Forester there are only hitches with 1-1/4 inch openings available for you. 2 inch hitches are usually reserved for larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs. I attached a help article on hitch sizes for you to check out as well.
The most popular hitch we offer with other owners of 2001 Subaru Foresters is the Curt Hitch part # C12038. This is a 1-1/4 inch hitch but it should work just fine for you.
