The Pro Series Hitch-Mount Cargo Basket # 6502 will fit into any 2-inch hitch, including the Class III hitch available for your 2013 Subaru Legacy Sedan. (Note that your car could also be fitted with a smaller 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch.)

There are just a couple of things to keep in mind as you consider a hitch-mount accessory like the Pro Series carrier. One is clearance at the back of the vehicle. You can measure from your hitch pin hole to the rear-most part of the vehicle to determine how much clearance you need for the folded carrier to fit without contacting the car. This carrier offers 7-1/2-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole when folded up in its storage position, so as long as your measurement is LESS than this the carrier will fit without touching the car.

Weight capacity is another thing to keep in mind. Your vehicle owner's manual will indicate the car's tongue weight (TW) capacity and your hitch will also have a sticker or label to indicate its rating. If they differ, then the lower one applies. For example, if the car and hitch both have a 500-lb capacity, then with a carrier like the Pro Series # 6502 - which weighs 48-lbs - you could safely load up to 452-lbs of cargo (500 - 48 = 452).

You also want to keep in mind ground clearance. With a carrier loaded up with several hundred pounds of cargo, this will pull down slightly on the car's rear end, reducing ground clearance. This may also be a consideration if you have a steep driveway entrance.
