What Fifth Wheel 18-20K Fifth Wheel Hitch Will Fit RBW X16 Rails

Question:

I have a RBW X16 hitch.& years old. Had to replace the P-181 LR-10000 Table last year due to wear. Have sheared bolts grade 8 on the front and back head plate from time to time. Looking to replace with a more heavy duty hitch. Just sheared another one so ready to make a change. It was installed in my 2003 Chevy 1 ton long box. Now have a new 2009 HitchHiker 348S Hitch Wt. 2,180 UVW 1,180 GVWR 15,600 What new 18 or 20 K hitch will fit the orig. rails from the X16. Dont want a claw type hitch. Want a bar that slides across like the RBW does.

None of the 18K or higher hitches that we carry, Reese, Draw-Tite, Valley and Curt, use the slide bar. They all use 1 or more jaws or claws that wrap around the king pin. We only have a couple of 15K and 16K hitches that use the slide bar to lock the king pin in.

According to my contact at Reese, any of their standard Fifth Wheels should fit the X16 Rails. If slide bar is not a priority you could use Reese part # RP30928 It has plenty of capacity for your Hitch Hiker 348, but uses the locking jaw instead of the slide bar.

If you want to double check with your rails, the tabs that drop into the rails for the Reese 30928 measure 20-1/2 inches apart, center to center.
