Tail Light Fuse Blows on Chrysler Town and Country with Curt T-Connector Harness Installed

Question:

I purchased the trailer hitch and wiring from etrailer and have had them on my town and country for about 8 months now. About 1 month ago, the running lights on anything I tow would not come on and my driver side rear running light would not come on. Turns out it was a fuse m17 that popped. Replaced it, popped again. If I disconnect the wiring harness and just plug my tail light back in, everything is fine. Suggestions? I have had great luck with everything I have purchased from you and had referred you to many friends, so any assistance on this would be great. Thanks

I'm sure you are already aware of this, but the M17 fuse is the fuse for your left tail light and license plate light. Since the fuse keeps blowing when the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C56331, is installed and it does not blow when the harness is removed, then that is a pretty good indication that the harness is the problem and it should be replaced.

There is a good chance that the converter box shorted out causing the fuse to blow. A new wiring harness will most likely fix the issue with the fuse blowing on your Town and Country, but it is important to inspect your trailer or the wiring harness itself to see why the converter box shorted out.

Often times, a short on the trailer or a pinched wire on the harness can cause the converter box to short out. If the original cause of the short is not found, then you could run into the same problem down the road.

I recommend inspecting the wiring on your trailer for any sections that could be pinched, frayed, exposed or damaged. You should also inspect the connectors for corrosion. I have attached our help article on trailer wiring that you should find useful when inspecting your trailer.
