Trailer Wiring and Brake Controller Recommendation for a 2015 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Greetings - Love your website, so many choices! Need help in narrowing it down. I just purchased a 2015 Honda Odyssey van to pull my 1800 lb pop up camper. The hitch is already installed on the van, but they installed 4-Flat wiring. The camper has 7-blade wiring, so I need an adapter and will need to wire in the trailer brakes. I will also need a brake controller, but when I search for one compatible with this vehicle, the only one I find is for a Honda Pilot. Can you provide a recommendation on which wiring adapter and which brake controller will be most suitable for my purpose? Im hearing impaired so email is more effective than a phone call. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

We have exactly what you need to tow your pop up camper with your 2015 Honda Odyssey.
Since you want to install a brake controller, I recommend installing our Universal 4-Way and 7-Way Installation KIt, # ETBC7. This kit has all of the hardware necessary to complete the installation and to add a brake controller including the 4-flat to 7-blade adapter that you need. Keep in mind, this is a universal installation kit, so hardwiring is required. At this time there are no plug-in style adapters available for the Odyssey that allow you to add a brake controller.
I have attached an installation video of the install kit # ETBC7on a 2014 Honda Odyssey for you to check out. This will be the same for your 2015 model. I have also attached a link to the installation instructions if you plan on doing the installation yourself. Since the hitch tube sits under the bumper, we found that using a long no-drill bracket, # C57202, made the connector more accessible. This is shown in the installation video.
For the brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195, because it is the top brake controller on the market with many features like memory settings, customizable display, automatic leveling and many more. I have attached a review video of this brake controller for you to check out. Brake controllers are universal, so you can install any aftermarket brake controller that you wish.
A less expensive option that you may be interested in is the Tekonsha Primus IQ, # TK90160. This is another excellent brake controller, but has fewer features than the P3. I have attached a review video of this brake controller for you to check out as well.
