How to Prevent Pin Box from Hitting Bed Rails on 2001 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
2001 chevy silverado long bed. 18foot Prowler 5th wheel. My driveway is fairly steep to climb, then it goes down hill to the street. if I crank the wheel I can avoid crushing the side of the truck bed. Ive raised the trailer 2inch and the hitch is already at its highest setting. Can i weld plates onto the kingpin box and extend it about a foot? Would that help? Can I purchase a longer box? Thank you for any help

We cannot recommend you modify the kingpin box in any way. Since you have already adjusted the height of your fifth wheel hitch to its highest setting, you might consider going with a fifth wheel hitch with a greater height adjustability such as the Husky Silver Series 26K Fifth Wheel Hitch, # HT31318-31325. The Husky Silver Series hitch can be raised to 19-1/4 inches tall. See the video review I have included.
