Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ford F150 to Carry Heavy Motorcycle Carrier

Question:

I have a 2014 Ford F150 super crew 4x2 short bed with NO extra tow package with a stock hitch tongue rating at 1050LB weight distributing 500LB weight carrying standard.I am looking to try a motorcycle hitch hualer for my Harley davidson sportster 48 witch is a bit on the portly side.I was wanting to use a versahual hitch carrier and that would give me a total weight of roughly 665 dead tongue weight exceeding my stock truck hitch. I was wondering If..... 1. Your Curt hitch #C14002 Hitch would work for my application?? 2.If that hitch fits and carries that much tongue weight would i have squatting issues without a tow package? My truck is more than capable of towing the weight its just a matter of safe tongue loading and squatting. Thank you for your help.

Since your truck has a factory hitch on it currently the only hitch we offer that is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Ford F150 is the Torklift Hitch part # TLF1005H. This hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 800 lbs which would be enough for the tongue weight of 665 lbs you would have.

The Curt hitch part # C14002 that you referenced won't fit the models of your truck that have a factory hitch so it would not work for you.

Before you buy anything you need to check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine what Ford lists as the tongue weight rating for the truck and be sure not to exceed this figure.

If you do have the tongue weight capacity for the weight of the motorcycle and carrier suspension enhancement would be a great option to help support the rear suspension and prevent sag. For that I would recommend the Firestone Work-Rite Custom Helper Springs Kit # F2525. This will provide you with additional support when the truck is loaded and won't affect the ride quality when unloaded.
