I have a 2009 f250 will a 1998 f150 tail gate fit

If you're speaking of an aftermarket tailgate like the Stromberg-Carlson # VG-97-100, the 2009 Ford F250 and the 1998 Ford F150 could both use the same tailgate. The Stromberg-Carlson # VG-97-4000 would also fit.
As far as a stock tailgate goes, it would seem logical that if both vehicles used the same aftermarket tailgate, they should be able to use the same OEM tailgate, but I couldn't confirm that without testing it.
