Activator III Brake Controller Does Not Work with the 2013 Ram 1500 Powernet System

Question:

My Activator III Brake Controller does not apply brakes when brake pedal is pushed and none of lites come on. All works fine when I use the manual override. This is on 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with factory installed 7 pin connector. I used the recommended adapter for plug and play installation.

In 2013 Chrysler introduced a new electrical system called the Powernet. This new system necessitated a new brake controller wiring harness design, # 3023-P. But there are only certain brake controllers that are compatible with the Powernet system.

The Draw-Tite Act III is not one of them but the early model Act II 5500 is compatible along with proportional brake controllers # 90885, # 90195, # TK90160, and # 39510. For a brake controller to work properly with the new Ram Powernet system you would need to use one of these controllers.
