Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Subaru Forester

06 Subaru forrester. Only 1 1/4 receiver standard, no 2inch correct? Must purchase adaptor?

The only hitch size available for your 2006 Subaru Forester is a 1-1/4 inch hitch like the Draw Tite hitch part # 36311 that is a Class II hitch. 2 inch hitches are used on larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks. I attached a help article on hitch sizes for you to check out as well.
You could use a hitch adapter like part # HTAD to convert the hitch opening to a 2 inch opening, but you should note that hitch adapters like this cut the capacity of the hitch in half.
