For a 4-pole trailer connector, you'll need part # 119178KIT. The wiring harness/converter would wire directly into the circuits feeding your taillight assemblies. I've linked you to a video showing the wiring harness being installed on a 2006 Honda Element. The wire colors on your Land Rover would be different, but the testing to determine which wire carries which circuit and the procedure would be very similar for your vehicle.
If you needed a 7-way trailer connector and your trailer has electric brakes, you'll need a brake controller and our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. For a brake controller, I'd recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. If your trailer has an electric over hydraulic brakes, you'll need a compatible controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy, part # 90885.
I've linked you to the installation instructions for the install kit, as well as to an install video showing the kit being used to install a brake controller on a 2004 Ford Explorer. Although it's a different vehicle, the install procedure would be similar.
After looking over the instructions and viewing the video, if you feel the installation isn't something you'd feel comfortable attempting yourself, any trusted mechanic could do the installation for you.
