Could Swagman 4 Bike Carrier RV Bike Rack # S80600 Carry Trike with 26 inches Between Rear Wheels

Question:

What is the center to center distance of the wheel nests. I have an adult trike with a 26inch distance between the rear wheels. Would the both wheels nest between the rails correctly? Also, I would like to fit a bicycle with the same front wheel to rear wheel dimension at the same time. Will the S80600 accommodate my Flagstaff 5th wheel to do this? Would you recommend removing the spare wheel from the bumper rack so as to reduce the weight stress on the bumper?

Expert Reply:

The wheel cradles of the Swagman 4 Bike Carrier RV Mounted Bike Rack # S80600 that you referenced are 9 inches apart from each other on center and the wheel tray that is furthest from the bumper attachment point is extra wide so the rear wheels of your trike should fit well into this rack using the two wheel cradles furthest from each other. The distance between the furthest apart cradles is 27 inches.

Now to fit another bike to the rack would be difficult, but if you secured your trike to the rack with tie-downs like part # 05605 you might be able to secure the bike to the trike at least. One wheel would be able to fit in the wheel cradles on the side the front wheel of your trike is using. May have to rest the other wheel on the trike and secure it with the tie-downs to it.

Removing the spare tire carrier would be a great idea as well. You will want to make sure the bumper of your 5th wheel is rated for carrying this much weight as well.
