Brake Controller Suddenly Shuts Off While Towing Trailer

Question:

when driving with trailer the controller goes blank I have 2014 Jeep Rubicon have at trailer with duel axel my old trailer was a single axel and no problems. my buddy towed my new tralier and no problems. I hear a click when the controller goes blank . any idea what could go wrong

If your brake controller is going blank suddenly it either means that the power has been interrupted to the controller or there is something wrong inside the controller itself.

You will want to check the connection on the black wire of the brake controller. This is the 12 volt power wire to the controller. Any loose connections could be causing the problem. The click you are hearing could be a noise it makes when power is disconnected. Also check the white ground wire. If it is loose then power would also be interrupted.

If the power wire is good then the problem is likely inside the controller and it will need to be replaced. I have included some links on testing and troubleshooting brake controllers for you as well.
