Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2015 Subaru Forester for Use on Icy Steep Driveway
Question:
We have a 2015 Forester, and Im trying to the right chain for our needs. Either the Thule CB-9 or CB-12. Id prefer the lower profile CB-9, but they say that they are for On Road use only. Our cabin is on a typical West Virginia dirt mountain road. Its only a couple miles in, but is very steep. In a couple places the grade is greater than 30. During the winter, it is covered in packed ice and can make descending difficult and dangerous. Would the CB-9 be rugged enough for these conditions? Thanks,

Based on how steep of a driveway you have and how much snow and ice it will see I have a better solution for you. The Thule CS10 Chain part # TH2004125104 is an offroad chain that requires 10 inches of clearance that has built in ice breakers to provide you with better traction in the snow and ice.
You will want to check the owners manual of your 2015 Subaru Forester to make sure there are no restrictions on snow chain usage with your vehicle. I attached an FAQ on Thule snow chains for you to check out as well.
