Bike Carrying Recommendations for 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible

Question:

2014 VW Beetle Conv w/spoiler: Need a trunk-mountfoot bike rack. Though Ive reviewed your Draw-Tite Hitch #24679 and Swagman #S63400, I prefer the trunk-mount because its keeps my bike a little higher off the ground. Also, your review was for the 2006 Beetle I think the 2014 may not be the same. thanks

Because none of our trunk mount bike rack manufacturers offer a bike rack that's compatible with the Convertible Beetle model, you'll need to go with a hitch and a hitch mounted bike rack.

I'd recommend the Curt Class I hitch, part # C11354 which is a fit for your vehicle, unless it's an 'R' model. I've linked you to the most popular hitch mounted bike racks among VW Beetle owners. The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike rack up by three inches providing additional ground clearance. Because of that, this is the rack I'd recommend for you. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch bolt, but a combination anti-rattle hitch lock/cable lock is available separately as part # S64031. With your bike rack, you will need to add a stabilizer strap # 18050.

I've linked you to a product demonstration video for the Swagman XTC2.
