Brake Controller Recommendations and Installation on 2010 Honda CR-V
Question:
I want to tow a small 1500 lb tent trailer with my 2010 CR-V. The trailer has a 7-way connecter and brakes. I need a brake controller, right? Which one should I use and how would I install it? CR-V doesn't have connecter now.

The first thing I'd recommend you do is check with your owner's manual or with Honda to ensure that the CR-V has sufficient towing capacity to tow the camper.
If you get the green light, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The controller is easy to use, is reasonably priced yet reliable, and provides safe and predictable braking.
To install the controller on your CR-V, you'll need a functional 4-pole trailer connector, which would be provided by installing the Tow Ready # 118427. To see an install video, click the provided link.
Once the 4-pole is in place, you'd install the controller using our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything needed to install the controller, including the adapter to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way, all wire, hardware, circuit breakers and even zip ties. I've also linked you to the instruction for the install kit.
