Where to Have a Transmission Cooler Installed on a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
Question:
We have a 2005 Chevy Equinox LS. We want to tow a trailer weighing approx 2900 lbs. Who could we get to install one of your trans. coolers?

We do not have any relationships established with any mechanics or shop. However, any basic mechanic should be able to install this product. Your local Chevy dealer should be able to perform the install or whatever mechanic you use for any maintenance on your vehicles. An oil lube or tire place would probably not be able to perform this install.
It is also an install that many of our customers decide to do themselves. It requires little more than basic household tools and a bit of patience. We do have a video of a similar cooler, one size bigger, being installed on a 2006 Honda CR-V that will give you a good idea of how a transmission cooler installs. You may not have to remove as much of the body paneling as we did on the CR-V. We could have left some of it in place, but chose to remove it for purposes of the video.
The cooler we installed, part # D13502, is one step up in size from the cooler you were looking at. If you will be towing in areas with lots of hills I would suggest stepping up to this larger cooler. If the areas you will be towing in are relatively flat the cooler you were looking at, part # D13501, should do fine.
Always check your transmission fluid level after installing a transmission cooler. See your vehicle owner manual for transmission dip stick location and fluid level check instructions.
