Will Timbren Suspension Enhancement Reduce Sag on a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500

Question:

Timbren Vehicle Suspension for the 2015 1500 by Ram The info provided about this product talks about how it helps the leaf spring, etc. The 2015 Ram 1500 doesnt have leaf springs which gives me concern as to whether this item will help me. My Trailer has about a 600 lb tongue weight which causes my ram 1500 to sink in the rear. I want to get an item that will help with that. How far will my truck sink in the rear before this item engages?

I spoke with my contact at Timbren and she said your pickup will have to sink one inch in the rear before the Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part # TDR1500DQ, engages.

However, if you are looking for something that will take out the sag at the rear end of the pickup when connected to a travel trailer then the best option is weight distribution. But if it is a 5th wheel trailer you will be towing then suspension enhancement would be the way to go.

Since the tongue weight is about 600 lbs pounds I recommend going with a system rated for 500 to 1000 lb tongue weight like the Reese Steadi-Flex # RP66559, however you will have to confirm the fully loaded and ready to tow trailer tongue weight, which will include the weight of anything stowed in the cargo area of the truck. (See the FAQ regarding on how to find your trailer tongue weight I have attached.) This system comes with the standard shank, and the weight distribution spring bars will transfer the weight more equally to all axles of the vehicle and trailer so it will tow level. The integrated sway control will help prevent sway.

You will just need to add a properly sized ball to this system like # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 63840 for a 2-5/16 inch. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view and a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control.

This system does cost a bit more than the Timbren system, however, it will be more effective in preventing sag and sway.

I have included some links on Timbren systems and weight distribution for you.
