Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Carrying Bike Rack
Question:
Hi, I understand that this support strap is required when CURTs hitch c11474 is installed on a Jetta 2013 ? I have a Kuat NV bike rack and it is not clear to me why will the strap be needed in this installation ? I have not decided which hitch to purchase. Thanks

The only hitch that we have available for your 2013 Volkswagen Jetta is the Curt Class I # C11474 and it does require the stabilizer strap. Only Curt hitches require the stabilizer strap part # 18050 when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. The strap helps prevent some of the jarring from bumps in the road from being transferred from the rack to the hitch while driving. It is an extra precaution that Curt has decided is required. When the Curt hitch is installed, it will give you about 10-3/4 inches of ground clearance.
This hitch would be compatible with the Kuat NV Bike Rack part # NV12G that you have.
