Hitch and Thule Goalpost Recommendation for a 2008 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I have a 2008 toyota tacoma that I want to install a bolt on receiver onto the rear bumper. The primary use will be to accept a load extender for carrying a kayak. So The load will not be that great. Which of your products do you recommend for a load like this?

I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # 13323. This is the most popular hitch we carry that is confirmed to fit the 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Even though the capacity is more than you need it would be your best option and it would give you greater flexibility for in the future if you were to want to tow a trailer. The bumper style hitches are universal and might require some modification to fit your bumper and they have much less capacity so the custom fit # 13323 would be a better choice. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

For a load extender I would recommend the Rhino-Rack T-Load part # RTL002. This would work well with the hitch and for carrying your kayak. To strap the kayaks down you could use the # Y05006.
