Hitch Recommendation and Install Time for a 2013 Ford Explorer

Question:

Comparing the 2 500Lb hitches for the 2013 ford explorer, the Curt round tube model and the Draw-Tite max frame round tube models. The video instructions look identical, what am I missing that makes the Draw-Tite installation more difficult and 20 minutes longer?

You are absolutely right. The installation process for the Curt Hitch part # C13386 and the Draw-Tite Hitch part # 76034 will be virtually identical.

The install times were created by each manufacturer, and since Curt is a different company than Draw Tite they approximated the install times differently. I can guarantee one will not be harder or take longer to install than the other.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included to the right that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you will want the Curt Wiring Harness part # C56093.
