You could mount springs to the top of Dexter axle # 20545I-ST-60-15 but you would have to weld on new spring seats # TRSS175. The springs seats that come with the axle are welded to the bottom. You can't flip the axle over because then the natural bow in the axle would be facing the wrong way, the tires would stick out at the bottoms, and the capacity would be diminished.

The taller a trailer is the more susceptible to sway it becomes because the center of gravity is higher. Just something to consider when you are building the trailer.

The axle is a 2K axle. So you will need springs rated for 1,000 pounds each, # e84SR. We also have a u-bolt kit for installation, # APUBR-10. But if you want the springs mounted on top of the axle you will need those spring seats I mentioned above as well.

And last you will need a hanger kit, # APS1. I have included a link to our help article on trailer suspension for you.
