5th Wheel Hitch Compatibility with 2014 Ram 3500 Dually with 8-Foot Bed and Factory Rail Kit
Question:
I have a 2014 Ram, 3500, dually, w/an 8foot bed. It has the pre-drilled deals in the bed. Im looking at the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch 16,000 lbs Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 25,000 lbs. You have a note that says It will also not fit trucks with flareside/stepside beds.inch Does that mean the flared sides over the tires? Also, am I going to need anything other than the package you offer. Im reading forums and getting myself cornfuzed about some special bracket you need to go underneath.

Installation of a Reese 5th Wheel Hitch like the referenced # RP30047 in your 2014 Ram 3500 Dually with 8-foot bed and factory rail kit will require in addition to the hitch itself only the Rail Adapter # RP30154. The rail adapter fits into the factory pucks in the bed and provides the equivalent of industry-standard base rails to accept the legs of the hitch. Please refer to the linked videos on the hitch and adapter.
Since your truck has the factory rail system it does not require the under-bed brackets that are needed for trucks without the rail kit. The dual rear wheels do not interfere with the hitch installation; only flare-side and step-side beds are exceptions to the hitch fitting. Your fenders are not an issue. The hitch # RP30047 and the adapter # RP30154 are all you need.
But you might consider using a lock to secure your hitch to the adapter. We offer the Tow Ready Base Rail Lock for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches, part # TR63254.
