Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 1998 Buick Century

Question:

I have 1998 Buick century per the specification for radiator calls for transmission oil cooler : Plate 4 TOC : Plate -4, but I am planning to install a 2001 Buick radiator which the radiator spec all same except for TOC: Plate 3 . Can I install a radiator with TOC: Plate -3 in place on a radiator with spec TOC: Plate 4. What is the difference is it significant? Thanks

TOC stands for transmission oil cooler. If the fittings are the same then the 2001's transmission cooler would still work on your 1998, but if not then you would just want to bypass the factory cooler with something like the # D13504 that you referenced. A supplemental cooler is a better choice than a factory cooler since the factory coolers actually will heat the fluid up to the same temperature as the radiator fluid.

So either way I would recommend the # D13504 over using the factory cooler.
